RealTime Racing, Racers Edge Motorsports Achieve Pro/Am Podiums in Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 at Watkins Glen

  • Erin Vogel and Michael Cooper place third in Pro/Am on Saturday despite starting at the back of the grid
  • Mario Farnbacher and Ashton Harrison place second in Pro/Am on Sunday; potential class victory on Saturday thwarted by damaged tire

Both RealTime Racing and Racers Edge Motorsports took podium finishes at Watkins Glen International this weekend in Rounds 7 & 8 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS.

Erin Vogel started Saturday at the back of the grid—17th overall—in the RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22. Undeterred, Vogel worked her way through traffic reaching 9th overall and 4th in Pro/Am during her stint. Michael Cooper picked up where his teammate left off, climbing the leaderboard to fourth overall—up nine positions from the team’s starting point on the grid—and third in Pro/Am at the checkered flag.

Ashton Harrison started Saturday in 10th overall in the Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, but, like Vogel, climbed the leaderboard quickly. Harrison reached fourth overall and first in the Pro/Am class before the pit window opened. Once teammate Mario Farnbacher took the wheel, he moved up one more position to third overall. But the team faced problems with the left rear tire, forcing them to pit, landing them 13th overall and ninth in Pro/Am.

On Sunday, the Racers Edge Motorsports team once again had their work cut out for them, starting in eighth overall. Farnbacher moved up one position and found himself in close battle with Jan Heylen for most of his stint, fighting for the podium in Pro/Am. Farnbacher passed Heylen two minutes before the pit window closed; afterward, Farnbacher finished one more lap and pitted with only 20 seconds to spare. During Harrison’s stint, she passed Justin Wetherill and finished third overall and second in Pro/Am.

Cooper started near the back of the grid in 14th overall in the RealTime Racing machine on Sunday, though he reached 10th overall in just 10 minutes of racing. The team maintained their position through the rest of the race, finishing sixth in Pro/Am.
