Acura Sets Sales Record for August

Acura posted record August sales of 19,221 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 16,434 set in 2004 and up 12.5 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate. Acura year-to-date sales of 144,075 rose 11.2 percent versus 2004.

The TSX sports sedan posted its third consecutive record sales month and set a new August record, up 5.6 percent compared to 2004. TSX sales of 3,426 units surpassed the previous August record of 3,119 vehicles set last year. The TL performance luxury sedan also set a new August record with sales of 7,026, exceeding the previous August record of 6,445 set last year. Year-to-date TL sales reached 52,302 units, up 1.8 percent compared to last year.

"August marks the 22nd consecutive record breaking month for Acura," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "With the momentum we built this summer, we are on track to set a yearly sales record for the third year in a row."

Continued strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV helped boost sales to 5,379 for the month, setting a new August record and surpassing the previous record of 4,964 units set in 2003. Year-to-date sales of the MDX reached 40,176, up 6.4 percent compared to 2004.
