Acura to Hit the Links at Acura Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance

Acura, the Southern California-based luxury automaker, announced today that it will return for a third year as title sponsor of the Acura Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance. The annual classic car extravaganza will be held September 12-14, 2003 at the Ocean Trails Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Proceeds from the weekend's events benefit the charitable programs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation and the Palos Verdes Art Center.

"This prestigious Concours is a great fit for Acura and we are delighted to return as the title sponsor," said Charles Koch, Acura regional marketing manager. "This is truly a win-win event. Local charities are benefited and Acura is able to display its latest models in a breathtaking setting."

Donald Trump, the new owner of the Ocean Trails Golf Club, will serve as Honorary Chairman and KABC Radio's "Motorman," Leon Kaplan, will be the Grand Marshal for the 2003 Concours, now in its 11th year.

The three-day charity event begins on Friday the 12th with the Fourth Annual Golf Classic, with a notable change at Ocean Trails. Trump, who purchased the picturesque property in November 2002, is currently working on repairs to the 18th hole of the Pete Dye-designed course. Following a 1999 landslide that destroyed the hole and surrounding area, the Ocean Trails course was restricted to 15 holes (repeating three holes for a complete 18-hole game). With repair work scheduled to be complete this summer, Classic participants will be among the first to experience the three spectacular, never-before-played holes.

Saturday features the Third Annual Tour d'Epicure Road Rallye. Approximately 100 autos will wind their way through the Palos Verdes Peninsula from the Oceanfront estates to a private residence on the peninsula for a post-Rallye party.

The highlight of the weekend, the Concours competition, takes place on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nineteen classes of autos from pre-1916 Horseless Carriages to late-model (pre-1976) Ferraris will compete. In addition to each class winner, six special trophies will be awarded to: the Most Exciting Open Car; the Eric P. Allan Most Elegant Car; Best Sports Car; Best Finish; Chairman's Choice; and finally, Best of Show.
