This new generator delivers more of what Honda generator customers have come to expect from Honda: fuel efficiency, clean power output, quiet operation and longer running times in a portable package.

Ideal for a host of commercial and residential applications, the Honda EU7000is is the company's first application of electronic fuel injection to a generator, resulting in greater fuel efficiency, extremely easy starting without the need for a choke, and longer operating times than the model it replaces. Electronic fuel injection also allows for longer-term fuel storage than a carbureted model. What's more, the all-new generator incorporates a convenient one-touch, push button electric start switch.

"The EU7000is marks the further evolution of the Honda Super Quiet Series of generators through its continued development in the areas of output, noise, size and fuel consumption. Producing 7,000 volt amperes (VA) ― or watts ― of power, this all-new generator is the perfect solution to a variety of power needs," said Scott Conner, senior vice president at Honda Power Equipment. "The EU7000is is equally applicable for home backup use, on a commercial worksite, campsite or for RV camping and tailgating due to its excellent portability, quiet power output, and compact design."

A Closer Look at the Honda EU7000is Super Quiet Series Generator

The EU7000is has a dry weight of 262 pounds – only two pounds heavier than the Honda EU6500is generator. The new model also is equipped with a new 5.1 gallon gas tank and can operate for six hours per tankful of gas at rated load or an estimated 18 hours at ¼ load. This allows the generator to achieve a 25 percent increase in run time and a 20 percent increase in fuel economy over the EU6500is model. By utilizing a separate triple chamber construction comprised of an exhaust [muffler] chamber, an engine chamber, and an intake chamber and the Eco-ThrottleTM design, the EU7000is achieves a noise level of approximately 60 dB at rated load – resulting in super quiet operation.

Perhaps the most basic, yet important features of interest to consumers who are purchasing a generator are the amount and the quality of power produced by the unit. The EU7000is offers a maximum 7000 VA of enhanced commercial grade electricity with a wave form distortion factor of less than 2.5 percent. This translates into a generous amount of usable power available for a wide range of commercial and residential applications.

In addition, the new EU7000is incorporates the Honda inverter technology, designed to power computers and sensitive electronic equipment that demand consistent electrical current with a stable sine wave or signal. A computer or equipment operating on fluctuating power could possibly freeze, shut down, or be interrupted. To overcome this problem, Honda engineers developed a form of inverter technology, which allows generators with this technology to provide cleaner current to power electronic equipment in remote locations. In addition, inverter technology substantially reduces weight and noise.

Maneuverability and ease of use are key for any portable generator, and the EU7000is is no exception. It includes a wheel kit with large semi-pneumatic tires and folding handles as standard equipment, making the generator exceptionally versatile and manageable for whatever power supply situation is at hand. Additionally, an iMonitor digital display provides helpful operational information such as hours of use, performance data, battery charging status and other on-board diagnostics.

The power behind the innovative EU7000is is the Honda fuel injected OHV GX390 engine. As is the case with all Honda engines, the GX390 provides low-emission, 4-cycle power to the unit. Honda's new fuel injection and engine management systems incorporate the latest, most advanced engine technologies in a small package. With the new fuel injected GX390, the Honda EU7000is provides an economical, quiet and efficient power plant to compliment the generator's new technology and advanced design.

# # #

Editor's Note:
Honda Power Equipment, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., markets a complete range of outdoor power equipment, including outboard marine engines, general purpose engines, generators, lawn mowers, pumps, snow blowers, tillers and trimmers for commercial, rental and residential applications. Lightweight, compact Honda generators produce between 1,000 and 10,000 watts of power, providing smooth, dependable power for recreation, construction, rental, and emergency use.

All Honda generators are powered by advanced Honda four-stroke engines that make Honda generators among the world's quietest. Honda generators for typical residential use average 64-68 decibels (human speech is approximately 60 decibels) with the Super Quiet Series operating at noise levels as low as 49 decibels – roughly the noise level in a private office.

Product Line

Honda produces 18 models in four generator lines:

Series

Primary Uses

Power Range

Economy

EP and EG Models/Residential and Commercial Use

4000W – 6500W

Deluxe

EM Models/Home Backup and General Purpose Applications

4000W – 6500W

Industrial

EB Models/Construction and Rental Applications

2000W – 10000W

Super Quiet

EU Models/Portable Power Technology, Recreational and Home Backup

1000W – 7000W

Inverter Technology
Computers and sensitive electronic equipment require consistent electrical current that has a stable sine wave or signal. A computer not receiving this type of power could possibly freeze, shut down, or be interrupted.

To overcome this problem, Honda engineers developed a form of inverter technology, which also has allowed Honda to substantially reduce weight and noise. Using inverter technology, Honda engineers have integrated parts from the engine and generator set, such as the combination flywheel/alternator. This results in a more compact, lighter product that is purpose-built to produce reliable power. The Eco Throttle™ feature allows the generator to conserve fuel by varying engine rpm to the optimum level (given usage load), improving fuel economy up to 40 percent.

The Honda innovative inverter technology is available on a number of models. Honda Super Quiet Series generators — the EU1000i, EU2000i, EU3000is and the EU3000i Handi — are inverter-equipped, lightweight models that feature a totally enclosed body resulting in noticeably quieter performance. Designed for the ultimate in quality, portability and convenience, these models are ideal for any trip to the great outdoors. All of the Honda Super Quiet generators have ultra low noise, making any of the models, depending on power requirements, the ideal choices for home backup, public events, or any situation where quiet, reliable operation is critical.

The 1000 and 2000 watt models (at 28.6 pounds and 46.3 pounds respectively) can easily be carried and conveniently stored in small recreational vehicle compartments. The 1000 wattmodel is the perfect solution for scenarios where less power is required. The 2000watt model can power a computer, TV, coffee pot, or refrigerator. These units both feature a two-tiered noise dampening system that reduces noise to 59 dB (quieter than normal speech) at their rated loads. In 2013, Honda launched the new Camo EU2000imodel which boasts a unique Realtree® Camo exterior created especially to blend in with natural surroundings. The lightweight EU2000i Camo generator is both rugged and reliable and features a totally enclosed body that results in noticeably quieter performance to enhance the outdoor experience.

For a bit more power, the compact 3000 watt model provides the smallest, quietest generator capable of starting and running most modern 13,500 BTU recreational vehicle (RV) air conditioners as well as powering additional appliances in an RV. This model also doubles as a home back-up unit to selectively power a furnace, refrigerator, microwave, TV, hair dryer, and several lights.

The EU3000i Handi model adds increased portability to the fuel efficiency and reliability of Honda's existing EU3000is generator. The lightweight and extremely user-friendly EU3000i Handi provides customers with dependable, portable power for use at home or at remote recreational sites.

The EU3000i Handi also increases the breadth of the Honda EU generator Super Quiet Series lineup through enhancements in the areas of noise, size, usability and fuel consumption. Producing 3,000 volt amperes (VA) ― or watts ― of power, the EU3000i Handi meets a variety of power needs. The model's ample power output, exceptional fuel efficiency and super quiet operation make it well suited to provide limited home backup power during a blackout or other power emergency, while its easy operation and extreme portability suit it equally well for a campsite, RV camping and tailgating activities.

For the ultimate in quiet, Honda offers the all-new EU7000is in its Super Quiet line. Addressing customer demand for an even more powerful model — while still portable and exceptionally quiet — the lightweight, low noise, compact and fuel efficient EU7000is generator leads the Honda EU Super Quiet class in high quality, portable power technology. At a total dry weight of 262 pounds, the EU7000is model produces 7,000 watts of continuous power at a quiet 60 dB, roughly the same as normal speech. Ideal for a host of commercial and residential applications, the Honda EU7000is also incorporates the company's first application of electronic fuel injection into its design, resulting in greater fuel efficiency, extremely easy starting without the need for a choke, and longer operating times than the EU6500is model it replaces. Electronic fuel injection also allows for longer-term fuel storage without having to drain the carburetor or perform other related maintenance. What's more, the all-new generator incorporates a convenient one-touch, push button electric start switch.

Honda also incorporates inverter technology into its EM5000isAB Deluxe Series generator. Featuring the i-Monitor™ that provides information on hours of operation, wattage, battery voltage and engine speed as well as diagnostics for convenient dealer servicing, the EM5000is model offers the advantage of quieter operation while providing reliable, stable power.

The all-new Honda EB2000i Industrial Series generatorisa2000 watt portable model also equipped with inverter technology. Based on the extremely popular consumer EU2000i generator model, the new EB2000i maintains key attributes of the EU series unit while adding new design enhancements, such as a 120V/20A GFCI receptacle, providing greater flexibility for use at work sites.

Honda CycloConverter™ Technology
Honda CycloConverter™ generator models offer power that is equal in quality to automatic voltage regulator (AVR) generators but dramatically lighter in weight than other units producing the same amount of power. This lighter weight is achieved by reducing the number of traditional parts with a central processing unit (CPU) that conditions the raw power produced by the generator and eliminates the need for a bulky alternator. Honda CycloConverter™ technology offers the best pound-per-watt ratio available anywhere.

This technology is used on Honda's EB3000c Industrial Series model, which is intended for commercial and home uses and for residential standby power.

Advanced Power Solutions for Commercial and Rental Applications
The Honda EB2000igenerator, an all-new 2000 watt portable generator equipped with features vital to the industrial and construction generator market, offers inverter power with a rated maximum output of 1,600/2,000 watts with the Honda fuel-efficient Eco-Throttle™. The Eco Throttle™ feature allows the generator to conserve fuel by varying engine rpm to produce only the power required to operate the equipment, improving fuel economy up to 40 percent. The EB2000i can operate from four to nine hours without the need for refueling, allowing the potential for working all day without interruption.

The EB3000c, which features CycloConverter™ technology, is typical of Honda's offerings for this market. Weighing only 71 lbs., it produces 2,600 watts of continuous power (rated)/3,000 watts (maximum) and will run for 9.39 hours at half load on a single tank of fuel. Generator at 2013 GIE+EXPO
At the 2013 GIE+EXPO trade show, Honda Power Equipment today introduced the EB2000i, an all-new 2000 watt portable generator equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) to meet the Electrical Test Lab requirements for the City of Los Angeles. Based on the extremely popular consumer EU2000i generator model, the new EB2000i maintains key performance attributes of the EU series unit while adding a 120V/20A GFCI receptacle, which provides greater flexibility for most work site applications.

Similar to the EU2000i, the new EB2000i offers inverter power with a maximum output of 2,000 watts with Honda’s fuel-efficient Eco-Throttle™. The Eco Throttle™ feature allows the generator to conserve fuel by varying engine rpm to produce only the power required to operate the equipment, improving fuel economy. Additionally, the EB2000i can operate from four to nine hours without the need for refueling, allowing the potential for working all day without interruption.

Also like the EU2000i, the new EB2000i incorporates Honda inverter technology, designed to power computers and sensitive electronic equipment that demand consistent electrical current with a stable sine wave or signal. This feature could drastically reduce or eliminate costly work site down time by averting interruptions and damage to sensitive equipment.

In addition, inverter technology substantially reduces weight and noise. By eliminating the standard alternator, the Honda inverter models weigh 50 percent less and are one-third smaller in size than traditional generators. The EB2000i is extremely portable and lightweight – able to be hand carried by construction and other industrial users within a variety of job sites while providing easy storage.

“The new GFCI feature of the EB2000i generator provides excellent versatility for the product to be used within a wide variety of industrial and construction applications,” said Mike Rudolph, assistant vice president, Honda Power Equipment. “As is the case with our award winning EU2000i, this new generator is a perfect solution for running and recharging work site tools and electronics that are essential to any job wherever AC power is not available. Further, the new generator illustrates how Honda is incorporating new technology into existing products to enhance the user experience.” Super quiet operation, within the 53dB to 59dB range, makes the sound level of the EB2000i about the same as a normal conversation.

The EB2000i generator will be available nationally through Honda Power Equipment dealers in December in all 50 states and carries the industry-competitive Honda three-year warranty. Honda generators are characterized by the same clean, fuel-efficient technology that is behind the company's reputation for unparalleled durability, quality and reliability.

# # #

Editor's Note:
Honda Power Equipment, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., markets a complete range of outdoor power equipment, including outboard marine engines, general purpose engines, generators, lawn mowers, pumps, snow blowers, tillers and trimmers for commercial, rental and residential applications. Offered as a second power option to the reliable GX100 engine, the new GXR120 engine has been designed to provide superb durability and reliability for heavy-duty applications.

The Honda GXR120 is capable of meeting the high demands that rammers require of the engine, frame and operator. With a displacement of 121 cc, the engine can appropriately power 110-lb. to 175-lb. rammers at multiple altitudes with ease. Additionally, a new, special cast-iron cylinder sleeve and a high carbon-steel, dual-ball bearing crankshaft provide improved engine strength for rammer applications. To further enhance engine durability, the recoil starter and fan cover of the new GXR120 now are even more robust through the incorporation of steel in the design.

"Our new GXR120 engine has been developed to specifically provide the kind of power, fuel efficiency and easy operation that rammer products require," said Michael Rickey, senior manager, Honda Engines. "The addition of the GXR120 to the Honda GX Series engines lineup delivers more value, versatility and performance to both our OEM customers and end users."

When developing the GXR120 for the rammer marketplace, Honda engineers identified the need for a more compact and lightweight engine footprint to allow for more versatility in frame mounting. Using an Overhead Camshaft (OHC) orientation similar to the Honda GX100, Honda designers incorporated a maintenance-free, low-noise timing belt to create a smaller, lighter and quieter engine.

With the rammer machine operator in mind, Honda integrated several features into the design of the GXR120 that make it easy and comfortable to control. Since quiet operation and low noise are critical for these end users, the GXR120 includes a newly designed and very compact muffler, which is 22 mm (.87 inches) narrower than the muffler used as standard on the Honda GX100 engine. This smaller muffler, combined with the OHC engine layout, reduces operation noise by 1dB over the current GX100 engine. In addition, a heavy-duty recoil starter, together with an automatic decompression system, allow for easy engine starting, while an Oil Alert feature prevents the engine from starting if the oil level is too low. Also, a simple but innovative lubrication system with a dual-breather chamber optimizes engine lubricating performance in most rammer operating conditions.

Honda is the world's largest manufacturer of engines, producing and marketing more engines globally than any other company through a diverse array of automotive, motorcycle, marine, and power equipment products. Honda Engines offers a complete line of small, general purpose engines for commercial, rental industry, and consumer applications. Honda engines supply smooth and dependable power for more than 3,000 different product applications including pressure washers, lawnmowers, rammers, and rescue and construction equipment.

# # #

Editor's Note:

Honda Power Equipment, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., markets a complete range of outdoor power equipment, including outboard marine engines, general purpose engines, generators, lawnmowers, pumps, snowblowers, tillers and trimmers for commercial, rental and residential applications. It cuts in a random pattern, a technique that results in less stress on grass, more healthy growth, and reduced moss and weeds. Unlike a traditional lawn mower, it does not need to collect cuttings; the clippings it creates are miniscule and easily dispersed into the lawn root system – breaking down quickly to act as a natural fertilizer that improves the health and quality of the grass.

The new robotic lawn mower navigates through an intelligent combination of controls, timers and real-time sensory feedback. It works within a boundary wire, installed under the ground or in the grass around the perimeter of the area to be mowed. The Honda Miimo detects the electronic signal in the wire and stays within the boundary. Powered by a high performance lithium-ion battery, the product is self-charging, constantly monitoring its battery level and returning to its docking station when it needs to recharge.

The Honda Miimo features three independent 360 degree sensors that detect solid contacts between the unit and any obstacles. If a sensor is activated, the lawn mower will stop, turn, and move in a different direction from the point of contact.
Both safety and security during use are assured by two additional sensors that are triggered to shut down the lawn mower in the event that the Honda Miimo leaves the ground. In addition, an alarm sounds, and the product cannot be used until the owner inputs a unique PIN.

Honda Power Equipment also will be displaying and operating many of its other popular lawn mowers, pumps, generators and marine engines at The Honda Classic. Specifically, the extremely popular and quiet Honda EU2000i, EU3000i and EU6500i generators will be powering various concessions as well as the mobile device charging station. Honda pumps, lawn mowers and generators will join the showcase of Honda automobiles, Acura automobiles, Honda motorcycles and Honda racing displays in the Honda product display tent.

"Honda Power Equipment always has worked hard to produce products that help people get things done with maximum convenience and ease," said Scott Conner, vice president, Honda Power Equipment. "The Miimo robotic lawn mower is the ultimate expression of those efforts, and the product demonstrates new and innovative thinking from Honda."

Honda is the world's largest engine manufacturer, having sold more engines than any other manufacturer across all of its global product lines. The company's power products, general purpose engines and marine engines are characterized by the same fuel-efficient technology that is behind the Honda reputation for unparalleled durability, quality and reliability.

# # #

Editor's Note:

Honda Power Equipment, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., markets a complete range of outdoor power equipment, including outboard marine engines, general purpose engines, generators, lawnmowers, pumps, snowblowers, tillers and trimmers for commercial, rental and residential applications. The EB10000 model, selected by a panel of industry judges as displaying innovation in rental industry products, was named the winner in the magazine's generators and welders category.

The RER Innovative Product Award was established in 2003 to honor excellence in new product development in the equipment rental industry. The 2012 awards showcased the most innovative products introduced to the marketplace between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012.

Honda Industrial Series generators have earned a leading reputation in the construction and rental industries for their rugged reliability and outstanding performance. In 2012, the company launched the all-new EB10000: the most powerful Honda Industrial Series generator and the company's flagship model.

The Honda EB10000 generator, with a maximum output of 10,000 watts, is compact, lightweight and features a range of design innovations that contribute to exceptional performance. These features include a narrow-shaped design; a centralized exhaust mechanism; a newly developed alternator; and the best fuel efficiency and lowest noise in its class. The EB10000 also is an ideal fit for the rental market, where users demand the most reliable power for a variety of applications.

The Digital Auto Voltage Regulator (DAVR) – a Honda exclusive – is integrated into the design of the company's EB10000 generator. The DAVR functions to improve the output capability of the new model, holding the voltage stable within one percent over time during standard operation. The DAVR adjustments are driven off the main winding versus a sensor winding in conventional AVR systems, with a built-in temperature protection system. In addition, the DAVR configuration has a built-in self-diagnosis function to prevent abnormal voltage and engine speed from exceeding 4,140 rpm for longer than three seconds. A power coil, installed under the flywheel, provides a power supply for the DAVR.

The technologically advanced design of the Honda EB10000 incorporates a patented frame design that clearly delineates its hot and cool operating parts. This configuration allows the generator's battery and control panel elements to be positioned in the model's cool zone.

The generator includes the i-Monitor digital operation system (with lighting), that allows the operator to see, at a glance, the state of the conditions being monitored: total used hours, generating voltage (when error detected), battery condition, Oil Alert®, and an AVR (auto voltage regulator) error code, all of which improve understanding about service and maintenance activities. The generator also has a one-touch, removable plastic top cover allowing for easy battery access and maintenance.

The Honda EB10000 operates at an extremely quiet noise level – at approximately 72 decibels at 23 feet (equivalent to the noise of a vacuum cleaner). This low noise level is achieved through a large muffler that includes a punching pipe, a perforated mechanism that allows for the smooth release of exhaust gas.

"The Honda EB10000 is designed to meet the most demanding needs of rental customers" said Scott Conner, vice president, Honda Power Equipment. "Honda is honored that the RER judging panel recognized the multiple technologies incorporated into the EB10000 that satisfy a broad range of rental applications."

Honda is the world's largest engine manufacturer, having sold more engines than any other manufacturer across all of its global product lines.
