Honda Automobiles: Honda Accord, Odyssey and CR-V Named to KBB.com's 10 Best Family Cars of 2013

The 2013 Honda Accord, Odyssey and CR-V were all named to KBB.com's list of the 10 Best Family Cars of 2013. The three family-friendly Honda models were recognized for their leadership in the key areas of safety, roominess, comfort and value.

All-new for 2013, the Honda Accord was the top ranked sedan on KBB.com's list of family vehicles and had the lowest 5-Year Cost to Own¹ among the ten recognized vehicles. The 2013 Honda Odyssey was the top rated minivan on the list, continuing to lead its class in fuel economy and safety ratings, while providing spacious accommodations for up to eight passengers. The Odyssey Touring is rated at a remarkable 28 mpg³, the highest EPA highway fuel economy rating of any eight-passenger minivan. Honda returns to support the biggest music festivals of the summer with major sponsorships at three premier events: Sasquatch! (May 24-27) at the Gorge in George, WA, Governors Ball in New York City (June 7-9) and Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX, (Oct. 4-6; 11-13). As part of the festival support, Honda is offering the opportunity to win a 2013 Civic Sedan and VIP festival passes as well as the return of the popular Honda Photobooth. Honda Automobiles: 2013 Honda Civic Sedan Leads All Small Cars in Safety Ratings with Top NHTSA and IIHS Crash Scores

The new 2013 Honda Civic Sedan, the most popular small car among individual buyers, has received the highest possible overall safety ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2013 Civic Sedan recently received the top 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), and the highest possible rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the IIHS, including a top score of GOOD in the new small overlap frontal collision test.

Honda leads all automakers with every one of its tested model year 2013 vehicles earning a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the IIHS.

The 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe are the first and only small cars to earn the IIHS' highest safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+, and the NCAP 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for the Civic Sedan further separates Civic from the competition in safety ratings performance. The 2013 Accord also earned these high safety ratings in the midsize segment.

"Car shoppers cannot find a small car with higher overall safety ratings than the 2013 Honda Civic," said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. "Safety ratings leadership across product lines is a fundamental part of not only our strategic business plan, but also our philosophy as a company."

The Civic Sedan, significantly reengineered for 2013, is equipped with Honda's next generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which plays a critical role in making Civic the first small car to earn a TOP SAFETY PICK+ crash safety rating, and the first to earn the highest rating of GOOD in the IIHS' new small overlap frontal crash test (sometimes called a 'narrow offset' test). This aggressive test is designed to simulate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object such as a tree or utility pole at high speed. The reinforced ACE™ body structure found on the 2013 Civic further enhances frontal crash energy through a wider range of these offset and oblique collision scenarios.

Additional standard safety equipment on all Civic models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags; dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; and driver and front passenger side airbags.

Honda Automobiles: Honda April Sales Up on CR-V Monthly Sales Record; All-New RLX Flagship Sedan Bolsters Acura Sales Gain

American Honda today reported April 2013 U.S. sales of 130,999 units, an increase of 7.4 percent compared with April 2012 (up 3.1 percent based on the Daily Selling Rate, or DSR*). The Honda brand posted April 2013 sales of 117,100 units, an increase of 6.6 percent compared with April 2012. Acura U.S. April sales of 13,899 units increased 14.2 percent compared with April 2012.

RDX sets its twelfth-consecutive monthly sales record, up 106.0 percent from last April, and is the top-selling Acura model in April with sales of 4,088 units

"With a full year of record sales growth, the RDX is a resounding success," said Jeff Conrad, vice president and general manager of Acura Sales. "Continued record-breaking sales of the RDX is laying a solid foundation for the new RLX and MDX Acura models launching this year."
